Annual Report from the Chair of Trustees 2023

Hopefully we can now put Coronavirus behind us due to the vaccines we now have available.

All our partner schools are now open to taking volunteers and we are now slowly recruiting new volunteers, but we do   need more, so please carry on the good work and get your friends and family to join us to work in our local schools.    Most of our schools are asking for more volunteers.

This is the second year for schools to present the Sue Mosco award to a pupil or even a group who have done something special in their school e.g.  going out of their way to support new pupils or raising funds for charity and in one case overcoming disability.

Some of our schools are now going to present the award every year, giving the winner a small token and keeping the salver with other school trophies to be presented each year.

Our coordinators have continued to keep in touch with their volunteers and for the first time since 2019 we were able to enjoy a get together with our volunteers.  This event took place in December 2022 at Worthington Primary school.   We were entertained by the pupils and enjoyed very nice refreshments and a sing along.   Thank you to Clive Searle, Head of the school, for providing this.

You will already have received a ‘ save the date ‘ invite for our 2023 AGM which will take place on 22nd June at St Joseph’s Church Hall, Hope Street, Sale and we look forward to seeing you all there.

Two of our trustees have now resigned from our board of trustees: Carla McCoy and Clive Searle.   Carla has moved to Manchester and did not have the time to continue as a trustee and Clive will be retiring from his post as Head Teacher of Worthington Primary school at the end of July and will be involved in other things.   Clive has been a trustee of Intergen and then Intergen-Trafford for 25 years, a great supporter and innovator.    We wish them both well in their future projects. They will be missed.

This means we need more trustees.  If any of you would like to offer your support as a trustee or as a coordinator or assisting Carol our administrator, or if you would like more information about these posts, please let your coordinator know.

Since last year we have been updating our website. Just check it out and let us know what you think or if you have any ideas to add to it.

Finally, I would like to thank all our volunteers, trustees and coordinators, also Carol, our administrator for all their hard work throughout the year.  A special mention too for our Patrons Slater Heelis Solicitors for their continued support.
