Update from Area Coordinators June 2023

Stretford Schools – Christine Kay and Kathryn Lewis

St Hilda’s CE Primary School    Victoria Park Infants   Victoria Park Juniors

Recruitment in Stretford has been a challenge since covid when a number of volunteers felt unable to return.  This was especially true of some of our most long-standing volunteers and we would like to thank them wholeheartedly for the many years of service they have given to Intergen Trafford. They will be sorely missed by staff and students alike. One school lost 5 volunteers out of 6, although we have recently replaced 2 of them. An additional 2 new volunteers have also been recruited and placed in schools, and we continue to look for more.

Sale Schools – Christine Kay

Worthington Primary    Limetree Academy    Broomwood Primary

The situation in the above schools has been more stable and most volunteers have returned to school following the pandemic.  Again, we have regrettably lost one or two volunteers who have felt unable to return and thanks go to them for their excellent service and commitment to Intergen Trafford. We have also recruited a couple of new people who are now established in schools and enjoying their time there.  One of these has kindly agreed to becoming a trustee as well and we look forward to welcoming him at the AGM.

Sale Schools – Kathryn Lewis

The Firs     Woodheys Primary     Brooklands Primary   Tyntesfield Primary

These schools have fared less well since the pandemic.  Five volunteers felt unable to return for various reasons and we thank them for their valuable, much appreciated support.  One new volunteer has started at Booklands Primary, however, there are still only four volunteers across these schools.  Tyntesfield unfortunately has no volunteers at the moment. We hope to improve this situation in the coming year as we endeavour to recruit more volunteers in the Sale area.

Trafford West Schools – Janice Mortimer

In this section are Wellacre Boys, Acrehall Infant and Junior School, St Mary”s CofE Infant and Junior School, Kingsway Infant and Junior School and Partington Central Infant and Junior School.

Our Volunteers continue to faithfully input their appreciated skills into their schools, whilst liaison with our schools continues now as per before Covid.

Due to circumstances, both Linda and Francis are retiring from Intergen after the school holiday. They will be missed. A big thankyou to them for their work over many years.

Intergen West does require more volunteers to replace those who retired both during the Covid period and this past year.

We are looking forward to rebuilding our volunteer numbers, over the next year.
