AGM 2012

Intergen – Trafford were delighted to hold their Annual General Meeting at Partington Primary School in July. The Headteacher, Linda Pickwell, staff and pupils made the volunteers feel very welcome and provided an excellent tea as well as fabulous entertainment.

Our Chair Person, Sue Mosco welcomed Elaine Jackson, former Senior Primary Adviser for Trafford, and author of the ‘Barnaby Bear ‘travelling books. Elaine told us all of her passion for Geography and how she wrote the books to encourage young children to understand the subject and learn about other countries, towns and environmental issues. The series has links with other aspects of the curriculum and started with a visit to Dublin and expanded to international level when he first visited Norway. Sue Mosco remembered when her daughter was inspired by reading about Barnaby at school, and produced her own book of travels as a holiday project.

Elaine thanked the Intergen-Trafford volunteers for all the support they give throughout Trafford schools, something she saw ‘first hand’ in her visits before retirement, saying how the volunteers provided a ‘special time’ for the young learners.

My name is Carol Mounfield and I am the newest co-ordination for Intergen, covering a new area for Timperley.

I have a 22 year old daughter who has progressed through the Trafford education system, attending Woodheys Primary, and then going onto Sale Grammar.

She graduated from Sheffield Hallam University last year, achieving a 1st degree in Psychology - I'm a very proud mum.

My career has been spent within the advertising and newspaper industry; I currently work for a local newspaper based in Meld, north Wales. Appreciate the need for accuracy and attention to detail within a process and deadline driven environment.

My personal mottos are; ‘2 wrongs don't make a right’; and, ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you.’
